Next goal is 1000 (no, not RPM - or maybe!)
Next goal is 1000 km "on the road"
before Taupo
oh yeah, the photos are from last weekend... so Spring in Havelock North.
Feels good to have met the goal. It sort of rolled around after 9 months. It took 9 months, but given I'm restricted in when I get to the gym (eg can't generally do morning and evening classes) and the disjointed continuity in employment this year, yeah, I'm Ok with that. Sort of like stage one of my own Tour de Taupo. Now the serious training needs to begin. Not that the 100 RPM wasn't serious training :-) Heck no! It's not easy! [ButT] if you can sit your arse on a bike, then its possible. Although AK made this comment yesterday that if you have trouble getting up and down out of your seat then your arse is too big! That's his "mean" approach. Even though its "mean" its true though!
So I rode 100 RPM with the Young American. The Young American is one of the main "front of house" people at LM The Terrace. So, often she takes my RPM bookings. She's young, American and blond - Random question: why are so many RPM instructors blond? (just threw that in there for you T to see if you read the fine print?). Anyway, apart from the fact that she's a good instructor, people like her are important to people like me at the gym. That front of house thing when your made welcome and to feel like a valued member etc. So, it was good to do today's ride with her even though I don't ride regularly with her. There is a very nice young man on reception who always makes me feel welcome too! That stuff is important as well as the class experience.
Even though this is my own personal race/jouney re claiming my health and wellbeing, I so do not want to come last @ Taupo. Although someone has to. And of course crossing the finish line will hold its own sense of victory no matter what time I do.
It's 3 months from this weekend. 3 months. 12 weeks.
congrats on the 100 ..
ReplyDeleteCongratulations!! What a huge achievement!! 100 RPMs, then Taupo (and with all the training you're doing I think you'll fairly easily hit the 1000km mark before then) ... you're an inspiration.
ReplyDeleteThree months to go?! Eek!
By the way, I don't think you're going to 'come last' at Taupo, so try not to spend energy worrying about that, I like your (almost) last sentence about the sense of achievement and victory in finishing ... try and focus on that instead! ;)
I still don't know why so many instructors are blond ?! - although might just be a Terrace thing and remain one of those unknown mysteries of the world. Be good to see you back in class soon T. Your going to have your work cut out keeping up with JR when you return - that lady is going crazy like only a Hutt girl can - doing almost as many sessions as S used to...
