Whiplash

Today I decided I either have meningococcal disease (a stiff neck being a sympton) or whiplash.   Delayed whiplash?  I think my neck hurts more than my knee.  On that basis I didn't make it to the gym.  I didn't think I could cope physically or mentally with AK, or the Hutt boy - who seems to be taking the place of the Hutt girl.

Instead I went and purchased some arnica cream and arnica to take orally.  I probably should have had the arnica on Saturday, and Sunday.  *Oh well*.  This will double my first aid kit at home which until today comprised only disprin and band aids.  I know, your thinking: what if there's an earthquake or pandemic?  But its OK I have heaps of tins of baked beans and firewood.  That's all one needs in an emergency?

In more exciting news the Taupo "bible" arrived in the post today.  This is a book by Amy Taylor on how to train for Taupo.  It includes a section on looking after yourself on the road.  I better read that.  The book is an option for when you sign up.  It will be good to read it as I totally don't know the landscape and I've a first time Taupoer.

I am expecting other bike purchases to arrive in the mail this week thanks to some time on Trade Me at the weekend in post fall recovery mode.  My local courier guy plonks the parcels in a the green plastic bin near my front door.  He's not really supposed to do that.  But it works for both of us!
